There Is More Than One Way to Make a Cake
Creaming Method
With creaming, the butter and sugar are beaten together until they blend. The consistency is usually pale and creamy. Afterwards, the eggs get added followed by the dry ingredients.
All-In-One Method
The all-in-one method puts all the measured ingredients together into a bowl. This is the easiest, fastest way to create a cake. After everything gets dumped into the bowl, just mix it all up.
Melting Method
The melting method involves melting butter first. Then, you add it to the eggs and then to most of the dry ingredients. Finally, a chemical raising agent, like baking powder, gets added to make the cake rise.
Whisking Method
Eggs and sugar are whisked together before the dry ingredients are sieved. Everything eventually gets gradually folded through the egg mixture. This method can be tricky, because knocking the air out of the mix will make you lose the light and airy texture.
Rubbing Method
First, you lightly rub fat into the flour with your fingertips. You do this until the mix becomes like breadcrumbs. Next you put in the sugar, then the liquids. Once you completely blend in the liquids, you should stop mixing. This prevents a tough end texture.
